Community Policing Survey     For the purpose of compiling citizens survey information, the City was divided into six geographical areas.  This allows more specific information to be gathered in each area of the City so that the police department can better determine the areas of needs and/or problems.

Citizen Out-Of-Town Checks     The department provides the services of making periodic checks of citizen's residences while they are out-of-town.  This is a service that citizens use because it makes them feel more comfortable about leaving their homes unattended.

D.A.R.E.     The Police D.A.R.E. Program is a valuable and legitimate tool in law enforcement.  It is effective in areas ranging from drug education to community policing and also in the deterrence of juvenile drug use, abuse, and violence.

School Resource Officer     It is the desire of the Gatlinburg Police Department and in cooperation with the Sevier County School Board to implement a S.R.O. (School Resource Officer) Program in the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and Pi Beta Phi Elementary School.  With the implementation of the program, we desire to provide a law enforcement presence and related services to the public schools.

Police Kids Camp     Each year the police department sponsors a day camp for local youths.  The camp is held in late summer and lasts five days.  Several officers are involved in the camp as counselors.  Typical activities include hiking, biking, swimming with emphasis on safety and the community.  Time is also spent touring City facilities such as the Fire and Police Departments and the Community Center.  Meeting several officers on a face to face level is the major goal of the camp.
